When I'm not hanging out with my startmates I am usually running around somewhere or finding a body of water to swim in (not that fussy, have braved the brown snake in bris but am yet to try the yarra, nothing beats bronte baths in mid winter). I am extremely enthusiastic about books and am part of several bookclubs, and I am known for my unsolicited book recommendations. Unlike many of my colleagues I do not have a dog/cat but I DID have a worm farm once and that was pretty exciting! My special skill is predicting your Myers Briggs profile (sort of like a psychic).
My job is to amplify the impact of Startmate's team and community! This includes a focus on team engagement and infrastructure, streamlining systems and breaking down silos to build a cohesive internal community
I spent the first 5 years of my career as first a CSM, then a product manager, and finally general manager at an awesome company called Elevate Education. They run a bunch of engagement-focused products with high school students including study skills workshops, a game-changing PBL curriculum and most recently and AI essay writing platform
I think this is becoming an increasingly common viewpoint but I don't believe in free will. Everyone is just a product of their genetics/epigenetics/experiences and their decisions and behaviour reflect that!
(1) I think it's crazy that if you ask 50 people who work in education 'what is the purpose of high school' you will probably get 50 different answers - so any form of radical change in the education space is extremely exciting!
(2) The women's fellowship @ Startmate. I went through this and it was a game changer. Get 100 ambitious, incredibly talented and supportive women in a (zoom) room and who knows what will happen next...
