CONCRETE

CONCRETE will be a short film created through a series of collaborations with Greek Australian creatives. It will act as a vessel to exhibit works by the Greek diaspora and provoke questions on the relationship of post-war migration, contemporary subcultures and their intersection. The creation of this film will culminate in an event, screening the film and exhibition displaying the works of all the collaborators.CONCRETE follows a Greek-Australian boy over the course of one night during Greek Easter. Torn between reconnecting with his Greek culture and pursuing community within the underground rave scene, he traverses the Alexandria industrial estate. Through a series of surreal interactions with the landscape, the boy recognises that his two seemingly opposing identities are shaped and informed by one another.CONCRETE's production will be a collaborative medium to which we can showcase Greek-Australian creatives and provide a paid commission to create. We will involve Greek designers, musicians, actors and crew in the production as well as in the exhibition and promotion of the film to festivals, magazines and digital distribution platforms. This project aims to create critical mass to the representation of this group allowing them to be seen by a wider audience through this cultural lens.
