My passion project combines my mechatronic engineering background and visual arts practice to create interactive art. My work 'Leave us be' is a robotic painting that kinetically responds to its audience. The work features motorised anemones that shrink away in the presence of a viewer, returning once the person moves away. The piece mimics the unique defense mechanisms of coastal organisms to reflect human interactions with the environment and the fragility of nature. The Protostars microgrant will give me the opportunity to improve this artwork through the purchase of more sophisticated motors, sensors, and materials. I am looking forward to working with the Protostars cohort and showcasing my interactive piece!
